All Halloween next week (Oct. 26 - 30)

To make it a very Halloween week, we are going to accomplish everything that has to do with the most ghoulish night of the year.

For science, we will learn about the life cycle of the pumpkin by reading this wonderful book, Pumpkin,Pumpkin, which tells how a boy watched his pumpkin grew through the different stages...

And with sequence cards, we will talk about these stages and will have the chance to work on our individual worksheets for review and understanding...

We will also be going batty by learning the most famous night creature of the Halloween celebration... the bat!

We read the book in them magic school bus series on bats. And we will continue to read about bats to find out facts...

...look at our poster to see the different species of bats...

...in order we can write down important facts about bats...

As part of our language expectations, we will be given the chance to summarize our own ideas about bats after we have done our research.

For math, we have the chance to fill our haunted houses with different spooks by colouring and gluing them...

And afterwhich, we will graph how many spooks of each kind we have in our haunted houses... This answers our data management strand in math...

And for language, we will read and learn about the five little pumpkins sitting on the gate...

And be given the chance to re-enact the poem using these special puppet pumpkin gloves that I have made for this purpose... A chance to show dramatic skills while expressing orally the idea behind this classic Halloween poem...

Enjoy!
